Colorado has reached more than $100 million dollars in combined recreational and medicinal sales for the cannabis plant in August. This is the first time the state has reached the milestone. The data was released by the Colorado Department of Revenue. Recreational marijuana sales came in at $59.2 million and medical marijuana sales came in at $41.4 million.

In 2014, the DEA spent $960,000 in eradicating 16,067 cannabis plants. Doing the math, it cost the US government roughly $60 per plant to destroy. This price tag is unusually high considering the average nationwide per-plant-destruction cost is $4.20 according to the Washington Post.
